How I Make Money on Pinterest Without Blogging

Wouldn’t you love to make money on Pinterest without having a blog?

I have been trying to make money online for quite a while now. I started this blog in September of 2017 and hoped to be making a few hundred dollars a month within the first few months.

Finding the time to do everything that needed to be done proved to be more difficult than I had anticipated though!

How to Make Money on Pinterest Without a Blog

This post may contain affiliate links which means that if you make a purchase using one I could receive a small commission.  This is at no cost to you and sometimes gets you a better deal.  See our full disclosure policy here.

I’m not one to give up, but I do like to see quick results.

While I continued blogging, I searched for other ways to make a passive income. Diversifying my income stream was always in my plan so I decided now was as good a time as any.

I searched the internet and read blog post after blog post until I was pretty sure I had found what I was looking for.

Pinterest Affiliate Marketing

I had never tried anything except using Pinterest to bring people to my blog posts that had affiliate links in them.  I learned everything I know about affiliate marketing from Michelle of Making Sense of Cents!  She consistently makes over $100,000 per month from her blog!  Who better to learn from?  Her course is very thorough and you can check out my full review of it here.

Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing helped me make sure I knew all of the rules that I needed to follow to pursue this method of earning income without any run-ins with the FTC!

I quickly figured out Pinterest affiliate marketing and became quite successful at it!  I’ve created a free e-course so you can decide if it is something you may be interested in.  You can sign up here!

Update:  I’ve also created a paid course that gives you my detailed steps that made me successful so quickly!  If you’re ready to start making money you can sign up for it here!

At the time when I started I signed up for Shopstyle Collective which is a pay per click affiliate network. Your pay per click rate typically starts out at .05 per click.  Shopstyle is no longer pay per click so they aren’t my first choice anymore.

I now recommend signing up with MagicLinks!  They have a huge selection of retailers in their network.  The benefit to that is when you are approved you do not have to apply to each retailer individually.  This is mostly commission based but there are several retailers that pay per click as well.

I’m honestly not sure how they decide who gets paid per click though.  I get paid per click by Target and Overstock but I have heard that others do not.

Simply create a pin using your affiliate link, pin it to your Pinterest account and wait for someone to click on it.  Every time they do you earn money.  Your earnings are accelerated by the snowball effect that Pinterest creates.  Someone saves your pin then their follower clicks on it and the process keeps going.

Obviously, there is a little more work involved than that!  To be successful you need to create custom pins which can seem intimidating if you’re a newbie.  Kara Fidd offers a free course on Canva if you need a little guidance in this area!  She also has a Canva 2.0 Masterclass if you have the basic knowledge of it but need more in depth knowledge to create pins that convert!

Also, I do all of my designing while I catch up on Grey’s Anatomy so how hard can it really be?!?

This is not a get rich quick scheme (so don’t think it is or you will be disappointed)!  It has really surprised me how quickly my income grew though.  From November to December our income increased by 873% and from December to January it increased by 440% and just kept climbing!

This is an image of our income for each month from November to February.  You can see that November was pretty sad!  This is when you start thinking…I may just quit…but like I said, I don’t give up easily!  Thank goodness!  Look at February!

This is only my income from ShopStyle Collective.  I use Awin ALL THE TIME and make great money from it as well!  You can sign up for that here!  It costs $5.00 but they immediately apply it to your payout balance when your account is approved!  I also use Shareasale for additional income opportunities.

I have never had an income source scale this quickly!

Use Tailwind for Consistency!

I followed every lesson I learned in Christina’s course as well as using a couple of other tools.
One thing you will learn quickly is that consistency is key!  Pinterest loves to think that you are always on it.  It’s kind of egotistical that way!

Tailwind is a huge help with this.  I truly believe you have to have this to see the quick results that I had because I do not have all day to devote to pinning.

Click here for a free month of Tailwind!

Christina offers a free course called Tailwind Mastery that helps explain the best methods for scheduling pins as well as how to create pins inside of Tailwind to schedule.

Pinteresting Strategies

Another thing that I believed helped me have success with this program so quickly was the ebook Pinteresting Strategies by Carly Campbell. She uses a manual pinning method and firmly believes in it. Before I signed up for Tailwind I used this strategy and I believe it really boosted my pins when I was first getting started.

I use Tailwind and Boardbooster now but if I have time to pin manually I still use Carly’s method.  Pinterest seems to know when you are using a scheduling tool and when you are actually on Pinterest pinning!  My income is better on days that I am actually on Pinterest pinning.  Coincidence…I think not!

Have you tried Pinterest affiliate marketing?  I’d love to hear about your experience!

  1. Pinterest is one of those social media platforms that have given me a hard time understanding them. For example, Pinterest may close your account if you pin one pine frequently calling it Spam. I didn’t know this until my account was closed.
Now that I have read your post, I will use some ideas from here to ensure I am successful at Pinterest marketing.

  2. I Was thinking of blogging but not ready to commit to it yet, I’ve thought about primarily using Pinterest and IG as a means of making money while still doing something creative. I’d planned on doing something in the Lifestyle niche category, showing some wellness and health aspects, family and travel, maybe even some beauty related bits and was working on a name. Now that I’m not going to do the blog though, should I still use the name I was going to use or would you suggest something different? Not wanting to use my name since I want to keep personal and business Pinterest accts separate but didn’t know if you thought there’d be a best way of going with this.

  3. Thanks for sharing such amazing content.

I thought we only can make money in Pinterest through blog only. But thanks for this article, now i know how to make money in Pinterest through affiliate marketing.

    Keep sharing such amazing contents

  4. Thanks for the info I am new to blogging and looking for additional ways to improve and earn some extra cash.
Question though, is magiclinks available to all countries?
    Anyway, I’ll check it out.
    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Minah,

I’m glad you found the post helpful! To answer your question, to the best of my knowledge MagicLinks is available to all countries. I know of people from the UK using it currently. Have you had a chance to sign up for my free course on Pinterest affiliate marketing yet?

  5. Great info ..i have been using Boardbooster for quite sometime and it works great , however like to pin myself most of the time and that’s the point of Pinterest . I pinned this so others can use your tips on how to use Pinterest to generate traffic to blogs . Keep it Up

  6. The best tool ever for managing the Pinterest is PinPinterest com and there are no second thoughts about it. After using it for 4 months now, I must say, it has contributed a lot in adding the followers and boosting my earnings too.
Firstly, it is absolutely amazing investment especially when it comes to the artificial intelligence that it uses to pin the relevant items, find and show the right content which will be popular with my target audience. And to top it all, the great help it offers in scheduling the pins automatically and what I need to do is just feed my preferences once a week and it does the rest of the job. I love that I don’t have to create multiple PinPinterest accounts to manage multiple Pinterest accounts. I can manage them all at one place.
