Affiliate Marketing Programs For Beginners

The perfect affiliate marketing programs for beginners are easy to use and popular.  This combination gives you the best opportunity to earn in the beginning.  Affiliate marketing is my favorite way to earn money online and was the very first way that I monetized my blog!  I made money in my first month of blogging with Amazon and was hooked!

Just in case you’re not sure what I’m talking about, an affiliate program is a marketing program that allows you (the affiliate) to receive a commission for promoting a merchant’s products.  In other words affiliate marketing is revenue sharing.  It is a win/win situation for the merchant and the affiliate because you only get paid after you refer a paying customer.

Affiliate Marketing Networks

1. MagicLinks

This is my favorite network (because currently it is making me the most money)!  This is a very large database of merchants that do not require you to apply to each one individually after being accepted into the network.  There is a minimum payment threshold of $50.

  • Target: Home goods and decor
  • Urban Outfitters: Eclectic goods in clothing, home decor, furnishings, etc.
  • Ebay: Everything!
  • Michael’s: Crafts and hobbies

2. AWIN

This is my second favorite network simply because it is partnered with Etsy.  I am a business owner, both online and locally in my hometown.  I love to shop from small businesses and Etsy has such unique items.  AWIN does offer many others as well.

  • Etsy: Handmade goods
  • Casetify: Cell phone accessories
  • Public Desire: Trendy shoes
  • Ivory Isle Designs: Wedding and event stationary company

3. ShareASale

ShareASale  is a very large network offering pay-per-sale, pay-per-lead, and pay-per-click programs, with a minimum payment threshold of $50.  This is another one of my preferred affiliate program networks because of their large variety of merchants.  They are very easy to use and provide deep linking so you can link to a specific product.

Here are just a few of my favorite ShareASale merchants:

  • CreativeLive: Online classes in photography, graphic design, etc.
  • Wayfair: Home decor items
  • Craftsy: Craftsy is perfect for everything crafty from lessons to pattern downloads.
  • Grammarly: Spelling and grammar checker.
  • Cricut: Cutting machines used for DIY projects.
  • The Hungry JPEG: Thousands of digital products including fonts, cut files and more.
  • Tailwind: Pinterest scheduling and analytics.  They’ve recently added Instagram as well.
  • PicMonkey: Popular photo editing tool.

CJ Affiliate is another one of the largest affiliate networks. There’s a good chance you’ll find an affiliate program on their network no matter what niche you choose.  The minimum payment threshold is $50.

  • Annie’s: Craft stores with products and pattern downloads
  • CafePress: Custom t-shirts and other unique items
  • Carolina Rustica: Huge selection of furniture
  • EntirelyPets: Pet beds, toys, medicines and more
  • LegalZoom: Business services such as incorporating handled for you

5. Rakuten Marketing (formerly LinkShare)

Rakuten Marketing is yet another very large affiliate marketing network that offers a variety of merchants.  One reason that I love Rakuten Marketing is because they also have a blog where they give you updates on trends and what is working now!  Here are a few of the merchants that they offer:

  • Modcloth: Fashion
  • Sephora: Makeup and skincare
  • Best Buy: Electronics superstore
  • Vera Bradley: Signature handbags, accessories and travel items
  • Zale’s Outlet: Jewelry

Individual Affiliate Programs

1. Ebates

Ebates offers cash back at over 2,000 stores whenever you shop through the Ebates website.  I love the Ebates affiliate program because it is super easy to convert.  People are already shopping online so it is easy to convince them to sign up for an account that saves them money.  The purchase requirement and reward amounts fluctuate but go as high as $25.  You only have to refer 4 people to make $100 during one of these promotions!

2. Bluehost

Bluehost provides very affordable website hosting and their interface is very user-friendly.  It is perfect for beginner bloggers because of their staging mode.  This means that you can make changes and preview them before pushing everything to your live site.

They also have very high commissions for each qualifying person that signs up. Currently the rate is $65 and the minimum payment threshold is $100.  If you need help getting your blog started just sign up for our free email course below!

3. Amazon

Amazon is probably the most commonly used affiliate program for bloggers. Amazon’s affiliate program is easy to join and use allowing you to promote thousands of products under one company.  The commission percentage is different for specific product categories but the minimum is 4%.

While the commission does seem small, there is one great advantage to their program.  As an Amazon affiliate you earn commission on all items that they purchase after clicking your link.  I have had someone click on a $10 product but purchase a Bose radio and a few accessories and I made commission on that entire purchase!

4. Creative Market

Creative Market is an online marketplace that allows individuals or businesses to buy and sell digital products such as WordPress themes, clip art, styled stock photography, fonts, and more.

They pay you 10% of every purchase that a new referral makes within a year.  While 10% is low compared to some programs, the fact that you get commission for so long does attempt to make up for it.  There is no guarantee that they will purchase again but I have had success with it!

5. Bluchic

Bluchic is known for their feminine WordPress themes, landing pages and social media templates.  As an affiliate for Bluchic you earn a 25% commission for every paying customer that you send their way!

There is no minimum payout and payments are processed through Paypal.

6. ConvertKit

Converkit is the ESP (email service provider) that I use for this blog.  They are who I prefer to use to collect email addresses with forms and landing pages.

As an affiliate for ConvertKit  you will receive 30% monthly recurring commission for every new client that you send them who signs up for the paid plan.  You will receive this 30% every single month that they continue their service.  Recurring commissions are my favorite because you only have to do the work once but the income keeps coming!

A Quick Word About ConvertKit:  While I totally respect the fact that people need free resources when they are first starting out, if you can afford it, I think email is a great place to spend your money.  I signed up with ConvertKit from the beginning because I knew I would not have time to deal with the headache of transferring my subscribers later.  I am so glad I did!  Especially as I am reading about MailerLite being blacklisted because that was the other provider that I seriously considered using.

It only takes 4 referrals to have your $29 monthly fee covered completely!

This was not difficult to achieve and it will save you so much time in the future to not have to rebuild all of your forms and landing pages as well as moving all of your subscribers!

  1. This is a good comprehensive list for affiliate marketing monetization. Several I have heard of but there were a few that I didn’t know about. As a beginner blogger this is great information and one that caught my eye the most was ebates, which after this comment I’m heading over to check out.

    1. I’m glad I was able to mention a few that you didn’t already know about! Ebates is a great income opportunity because it is such an easy sell seeing as how it is free and saves them money! Good luck with your affiliate marketing and let me know if you have any questions!
